Summary
We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer with exceptional design, communication and leadership skills to champion strategic design initiatives and launch new features across the Higher Education Learning portfolio. You'll partner closely with product, engineering, marketing and the wider UX design team to shape the strategy, operations and communications that guide the team to build great products.
You will be responsible for crafting user flows, wireframes, Figma prototypes and guiding user research. You will be challenged in an organization that values vision, execution, and persistence. You will take ownership of our product by solving complex problems in simple, elegant ways. Product Designers at Pearson are embedded within product teams that are deeply collaborative, and each member is directly responsible for the team’s success.
Key Accountabilities
Collaboratively shape a design vision for our products that supports the wider Product and Design roadmaps and goals while advocating for user needs
Partner with other disciplines such as Content Strategists, Marketing, Product Managers, Engineers, and more to build forward-looking, user-centric products of the highest quality
Lead design critiques/reviews sessions , encouraging everyone to receive and provide productive feedback, raising the bar both on design work and on its presentation
Lead design projects from initial discovery to launch and iterative improvement while creating space for others to collaborate
Guide and mentor a cross-functional design team
Proactively build relationships within Design and across departments, seek knowledge and opportunities for impact
Help establish and maintain effective design processes , in collaboration with Design Ops and Project Management Operations

About You
Extensive experience as an in-house UX professional in digital product companies
A portfolio, or ability to present case studies, showcasing your experience in:
Leading a team of UX professionals through high-impact UX projects, pushing the envelope of mobile and web experiences
Understanding the relationship of visual, interaction, and content disciplines
Agile/Lean UX or similar methods
Partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing and/or Content disciplines to deliver on business goals
Bringing clarity and structure to a complex system or user experience challenge
Uncovering insights from customer research
Comfortable engaging in challenging discussions with peers or with senior management
Fluency in user-centered design methods, exploration, storytelling, and detailed interaction design
Highly collaborative, able to lead while bringing stakeholders and team members along in the journey and valuing their contribution
Creative problem solver, able to think outside the box, engage people’s strengths and assess when more help or specialisms are needed to meet requirements and timelines
Self-organized, can be relied upon for overseeing projects and people while giving appropriate visibility to stakeholders and senior management
Comfortable with complex, open-ended projects that may pivot while being able to approach them with positive influence, helping support product partners in the definition of requirements
A team player and facilitator who can collaborate easily with everyone from designers to engineers to executives. You engage with teammates with clarity, openness, and curiosity
A persuasive communicator who can present your vision and design rationale in a compelling, convincing manner to the wider team

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $120K – 150K. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
