We are currently seeking an innovative individual for a Research Director position to support the Therapeutics market of occupational therapy and early childhood assessment solutions. Clinical Assessments, the portfolio’s assessment division, is noted for our gold-standard assessment contributions in cognition, memory, neuropsychology, behavior, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, early childhood, personality/psychopathology, and achievement, noted brands for occupational therapy include the Bruininks-Oseretsky, Sensory Profiles, Beery VMI, and Bayley Scales.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in academic research and using standardized assessments for the occupational therapy and/or early childhood sector. This position will report to the Director, Therapeutics Portfolio Management and Delivery, and can be remote, or based in our San Antonio, TX, or Bloomington, MN offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Director for Occupational Therapy is responsible for working with a team of professionals – Research Directors, Product Managers, Content developers, and Digital Developers – to assist in the development of new assessment solutions. Responsibilities include:
- Implement research and development efforts for occupational therapy assessment solutions. This may include item development, scope, research, and data analysis plans, scoring rules, and working with technology to help prototype digital item delivery approaches
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams in the development and delivery of new digital assessment solutions
- Being the content expert in occupational therapy assessment
- Represent Pearson through conference presentations, technical papers, and other scholarly work
- Support commercialization efforts through contribution to product training and product support materials
- Travel expected to be approximately 10%
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in occupational therapy or a related field from a nationally recognized institution of higher education
- Research experience or training in research implementation.
- Experience of test development, or adequate familiarity with assessment practices to substitute for this experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant job experience in occupational therapy or related field
- Demonstrated familiarity with Psychometric principles
- Self-starter: Ability to work independently
- Knowledge and ability to identify implications of relevant national trends in occupational therapy or related field
Communication Skills, Technical Presentations, and Client Contact
- Has strong communication skills (oral, written, and business) and ability to communicate highly complex information to different stakeholders in a way that can be easily understood.
- A track record of professional achievement through presentations at professional conferences, publications in professional journals, delivering training content or equivalent
- Understands the requirements of working in a business environment and how this may differ from clinical, educational, or academic practice.
As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only , the range of starting pay for this role is $85,000 - $105,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is here.
