Controller / Accountant:

Job Summary:
We are looking for a very hands-on and very detail-oriented self-motivated Controller / Accountant to partner closely with the owner in maintaining the financial health of the company. As the only accounting staff, this position entails wearing two hats: Accountant and Controller.
Accountant – 40% (Accounting Operations) - process day-to-day accounting functions, including:
- Issuing and collection of up to 30 accounts receivable (catering) invoices per month
- Coding, posting and payment of up to 200 accounts payable invoices per month
- Coding and posting monthly credit card statement for seven employees
- Process payroll and tip allocations for 70 employees twice a month using ADP
- File monthly and quarterly tax returns for the City of Seattle and Washington
- Maintain and reconcile two general ledgers
- Post month-end closing entries
Controller – 50% (Financial statement preparation):
- Prepare consolidated balance sheets and income statements with YTD and prior year comparisons using consolidation QBO software
- Resolve various accounting and reconciliation issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Prepare yearend financial statements and tax workpapers for outside CPA firm
- Respond to any city, county, state or federal governmental agencies
- Responsible for the maintenance of accounting systems and processes
- Continuously enhance accounting processes to improve timeliness, efficiency and accuracy
- Implement best practices to streamline workflows and enhance the overall financial function
- Oversee some aspects of human resource administration
Director of Finance – 10% (Financial analysis and reporting / presentation):
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial results, including food and labor costs
- Facilitate monthly financial meetings with the owner going over overall profitability, revenue, food and labor costs
- With the owner, attend monthly financial meetings with district operations manager and director of catering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting minimum; bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the restaurant industry
- Experience with sales, food and labor costs analysis and reporting
- Experience with QuickBooks Online required
- Experience with Toast POS system and Caterease software is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office, with intermediate Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
