What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac Sonographer position at Penn State Health - Lancaster Medical Center?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Our cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing cardiac ultrasound studies under the supervision of a sonographer from a more senior category or a physician, and performs echocardiographic exams in accordance with the standards and nomenclature established by the American Society of Echocardiography.
The Cardiac Sonographers on our team have a unique opportunity to be exposed to diverse patient populations in an academic medical environment where continued learning is a part of our culture.
The cardiac ultrasound studies performed would include 2D M-mode, color flow, pulsed doppler and continuous wave doppler on both inpatients and outpatients. The Cardiac Sonographer will be responsible for measuring all M-mode and doppler studies when required, and must recognize the significance of cardiac lesions and alerts attending physician as appropriate.
As an integral team member focused on exceptional patient care, this individual will interact with medical director, program coordinator and senior sonographer, using strong critical thinking skills to identify life threatening situations and react appropriately. Our Cardiac Sonographer will also have some responsibility to work with service representatives to ensure regular preventive maintenance and quality control on all echo machines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of a formal 2-4 year Echocardiography Program or 1-2 years echo lab experience.
Must obtain BLS certification within 6 months from hire.
ARDMS or CCI registry required within 6 months of hire.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
Pay: $63,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
