Position Title: End User Desktop Support Instructional Assistant
Location: Boston, MA
Hire date: April 11, 2022
Overall Focus:
- Assist the lead instructor both in- and out-of-class in the teaching and administration of the class
- Knowledge and/or interest in: Windows, and Linux Operating Systems; Active Directory, GPO’s, user-profile management, Basic Computer Networking, Technical Support, Office 365 collaboration tools and other topics related to end user support in a corporate environment.
- Preferred: CompTIA A Certification
In Class Tasks and Responsibilities
Required
- Reinforce, or provide additional clarity for, the training or logistical items the instructor is introducing during class
- Monitor learners during test-taking and break-out groups’ activities
- Note challenges presented during class, including (but not limited to) learners who:
- Seem disengaged or uninvolved with class activities
- Are speaking more than other learners (dominating) or are typically quiet
- Monitor use of learner and instructor video and audio. Check that instructor and learners:
- Are adequately lit
- Fill the screen (camera needs to capture learners from the waist up, with minimal space above the head)
- Are on mute until it is time to speak
- Can be adequately heard
Out-of-Class Tasks and Responsibilities
Required
- Assist and/or collaborate with instructor to:
- Enter learner grades into Canvas and grading templates
- Prepare daily class agenda to learners
- Schedule time with learners to discuss class challenges
- Coordinate with Curriculum Development Team or other staff to address learner challenges
- Update Salesforce data, as needed (requires Salesforce access)
- Grade and/or review assessments, class projects, and other materials*
- Review curriculum materials and assessments weekly and report to instructor and curriculum development team any proofreading or subject-matter errors*
Suggested:
- Serve as class time-keeper, announce breaks and other scheduling information
- Lead roll-call/learner-welcome activities: take attendance, pose warm-up questions, and greet learners. (This activity, combined with roll call, can vary.)
- Lead warm-up activities during other times in class (after lunch, @3pm, etc.)
- Present and review lesson agenda and objectives
- Present class announcements on behalf of instructor
- Tutor learners
- Lead a unit with the supervision of the lead instructor*
