What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Penetration Tester position at Peraton?
Peraton is seeking multiple Penetration Testers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton’s Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective and secure business processes. Peraton’s DSCM program encompasses technical, engineering, data analytics, cyber security, management, operational, logistical and administrative support to aid and advise DoS Cyber Monitoring & Operations (CMO) Directorate. This includes protecting a global cyber infrastructure comprising networks, systems, information, and mobile devices all while identifying and responding to cyber risks and threats. Those supporting Peraton’s DSCM program strive to leverage their expert knowledge and propose creative solutions to real-world cybersecurity challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a multi-year schedule for penetration testing activities
- Interface and coordinate with third party organizations performing penetration testing for the Department
- Interface and coordinate with system owners to establish targets for testing, test schedule, test goals, and rules of engagement
- Organize and lead efforts that document and design improvement strategies for discovered vulnerabilities and monitoring gaps
- Design, perform and report on penetration testing of systems to satisfy the NIST 800-53 CA-8 security control and using methodologies that may include, NIST SP 800-115, Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES), and Information Systems Security Assessment Framework (ISSAF)
- Produce reports and conduct management briefings on test activities, scenarios, results and recommendations
- Stay abreast of current attack vectors and unique methods for exploitation of computer networks

QualificationsTo be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Bachelor of Science degree with 2 to 4 years of experience is required.; OR a Masters of Science with 0 to 2 years of experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 years of additional experience may be substituted
- US Citizenship required and the ability to obtain an interim Top Secret clearance to start.
- Possess Cloud , CySA , CEH, or similar certification
- Proficient at conducting network or software vulnerability assessments and penetration testing utilizing reverse engineering techniques
- Ability to identify intrusion or incident path and method and isolate, block or remove threat access
- Familiar in evaluating system security configurations.
