Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Release Train Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Herndon, VA with some remote work possible. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) facilitates work for an Agile Release Train (ART) and is responsible for program execution, escalating impediments, managing risk, and helping drive continuous improvement for the ART and suppliers in the Value Stream. RTEs are responsible for facilitating Agile Release Train events including PI Planning, PI Demos, and Inspect & Adapt. The RTE ensures mission execution, coaches at the Release Train and Team levels, and provides guidance in Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, and Kanban.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leads and serves as the highest authority on the implementation and optimization of the Scaling Agile/SAFe methodology on the Release Train.
- Drives release level processes for an Agile Release Train, demonstrating servant leadership, coupled with domain knowledge and technical insight.
- Serves as the organizational servant leader and facilitator for program events and activities for planning, executing, delivery and improvement, such as Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness and PI Planning events and activities.
- Mentors and coaches Scrum Masters and Agile teams to enable high performance
- Identifies and resolves personnel and technical constraints in accordance with delivering to customer and stakeholder value streams.
- Plays key role to optimize the flow of value of the Agile Release Train using a variety of tools and methods to ensure strategy and execution alignment.
- Coordinates multiple solution interfaces (both external and internal).
- Collaborates with the appropriate individuals to translate business strategy into technology strategy and ensure that capabilities required by the business are delivered on cadence.
- Applies advanced Agile, Lean and SAFe principles and skills. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
- Escalates and tracks key ART metrics, to include impediments and execution. Drives relentless improvement activities and events.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 8-10 years’ of experience or Master’s Degree and 6-8 years’ of experience or high school diploma and minimum of 12 years relevant experience
- At least two (2) years in an Agile environment
- Passion for Lean-Agile principles and practices
- Experience in implementing and aligning Lean, Agile and DevSecOps methodologies, frameworks and tools
- Previous, successful experience facilitating Lean-Agile Program Execution
- Demonstrates strong sense of urgency, ownership and operates in a collaborative manner
- Possess requisite knowledge and expertise recognized in the professional community with exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Previous experience in coordinating and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines, along with the ability to effectively motivate people to work as an integrated team across locations, companies and cultures
- U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAFe 4 Release Train Engineer (RTE) Certification and/or other SAFe certifications
- Experience with current SAFe framework and implementation of Agile Release Trains
- Previous, successful experience facilitating Lean-Agile Program Execution using SAFe framework
- Certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
- Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, i.e., Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping
- Demonstrable mastery in various competencies of Teaching, Mentoring, Transformation, and Facilitation

Salary Range
Salary Minimum: $57,500 Salary Mid: $115,000 Salary Maximum: $143,800 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Peraton provides a variety of benefits to employees.
