What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at Perfecta?
Perfecta is looking for a Systems Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and desktop support infrastructure. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor system performance and troubleshooting issues
- Ensure security and efficiency of IT infrastructure
- Install and configure software and hardware
- Support and troubleshoot workstations, servers, and technology tools
- Set up/decommission accounts and workstations
- Monitor licenses, warranties, trending issues, and maintain systems according to requirements
- Troubleshoot issues and outages in accordance with SLAs and change management procedures
- Ensure security through access controls, backups, group policy, hardening and security tools
- Conduct monthly patching/system upgrades, firmware updates and software installation/configuration
- Create/maintain documentation of processes and procedures for both technical staff and customers
- Monitor, acknowledge, respond, and mitigate monitoring triggers/alerts
- Administer MFA, Certificate Mgmt Systems, and certificate issuance including smart cards
- Create and manage organizations, groups, security groups, users, and accounts in active directory, to include Azure and 3rd Party software integrations
- Work with Network and Linux Administrators to implement, maintain, troubleshoot system/network configurations
- Review, maintain, and manage system inventory and hardware distribution, including onboarding and offboarding of personnel
- Manage trouble ticket triage
- Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common hardware and/or software related issues
- Assist in the creation of processes and procedures for IT operations and printer management
- Implement/maintain Mobile Device Management and o365 Security policies and procedures
- Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain Microsoft Exchange server
- Ensure systems are secure and protected from breach or viruses via security tools and mitigation
- LAN/WAN troubleshooting
- Provide on-call support during evenings and weekends as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline required
- Security certification required
- MCSA or similar certification a plus
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or Network Administrator
- Experience with Linux, Windows and Mac OS.
- Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
- Minimum of 3 years experience operating computer systems
- Maintaining and Administering Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows DNS
- Administrating Windows Server 2016, 2012 R2, 2008 R2
- Administrating, maintaining, monitoring Veeam Availability Suite or similar backup systems
- Maintaining and applying DoD Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and/or Computer Information Security Level I/II standards
- Proven experience with helpdesk systems and responding to helpdesk tickets is required
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence is a plus
- Deploying and configuring virtual machines in a VMware environment
- Experience operating in a data center environment
- Experience with virtualized environments, SANs/NAS devices, email services, desktop services, and a variety of technologies supporting computing capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to perform system administration tasks across a variety of applications and operating environments.
- Experience operating in vCenter and ESXi environments
- Experience with WSUS and using it to deploy and track patch compliance
- Writing/maintaining SOP's, documentation, and design plans for server builds and software implementations
Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
- Experience with PowerShell and CMD scripting required
- Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language is a plus
- Ability to maintain autonomy – to self-manage time and contribute without regulation
- Ability to collaborate effectively
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines, working both independently, as well as in a team environment
Additional Requirements:

- Eligible for security clearance (existing clearance a bonus)
