About This Position:
We are seeking a forward-facing, entrepreneurial and highly collaborative new colleague to join our small, purpose-driven team. This role encompasses managing and growing our book of key accounts in the professional, trade, and education sectors. The Sales Manager will find and capitalize on new growth opportunities in national retail chains, wholesalers/distributors, global distributors and Amazon. Our collaborative publishing team works in a fast-paced and high energy environment, takes calculated risks, and brings passion to everything we do (and we actually mean it!).
What You Will Be Doing: (responsibilities)
- Grow relationships with existing wholesale and retail partners of various sizes, including Amazon and Ingram, to promote title distribution, visibility, market demand, and sales
- Actively seek and create new marketplace distribution channels by developing relationships with new wholesale and retail partners
- Grow global title distribution and sales by working with global distributors/retailers and managing title presence on PESI’s foreign brand websites
- Coordinate the marketing and sale of titles in conjunction with PESI educational events
- Increase market demand and sales of backlist and new titles by leveraging external and internal advertising platforms and opportunities
- Pitching titles directly to buyers at national retailers like Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million
- Work closely with inventory management and manufacturing teams to ensure sufficient stock availability for both front list and backlist
- Expand digital catalog marketing
- Maintain knowledge of publishing brands and titles, account base, and customer needs
- Report industry trends, market requirements, and competitor developments
- Measure and utilize metrics to drive informed business and marketing decisions
- Liaise closely with editorial and marketing teams to ensure fully integrated campaigns
What You Bring to the Team: (skills and requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or strategic communication
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in sales account management in the publishing industry or a related marketplace
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable making presentations
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to take data-driven, calculated risks
- Adept multitasking skills with the ability to quickly adapt to shifting goals and deadlines
What Would Thrill Us:
- Established relationships with buyers at national retailers, such as Barnes & Noble, Target, Books-A-Million, considered a major plus
- A passion for supporting mental, physical, and emotional health
- Working knowledge of SEO and SEM
- Familiarity with Amazon Advertising, KDP and Amazon Advantage
