Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to support the Foundation’s operations functions. The role will primarily assist with accounting and grants management functions, while providing additional back-up support for office administration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accounting
    • Ensures proper execution of day-to-day accounting activities with limited supervision
    • Serves as the cash disbursements coordinator, processes vendor and grant payments and expense reports for reimbursement using Bill.com
    • Serves as the cash receipts coordinator
    • Maintains general ledger in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
    • Responsible for verification of documents and data, account coding, data entry, and monthly reconciliations
    • Records routine monthly journal entries
    • Generates routine internal financial reports
    • Creates routine financial forecasting, planning, and budgeting reports and analyses
    • Prepares annual financial statement audit workpapers and serves as primary fieldwork contact for external auditors
    • Prepares annual tax return workpapers for external tax preparer
    • Document accounting processes and recommend process improvements
    • Effectively communicates information impacting both internal and external customers
  • Grants Management
    • Processes grant applications, ensuring document is ready for review
    • Reviews and analyzes the financial status of grant applicants and grantees
    • Ensures grants management system data reconciles to QBO data
    • Coordinates with team members to create grant agreements and ensures accuracy
    • Provides timely response and exceptional customer service to grantee inquiries
  • Provides assistance to office administration role.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or at least 4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities.
  • Adapts quickly to change and can multitask, manage projects, and prioritize work assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail, takes initiative and utilizes creative problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills to improve processes and implement solutions.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent customer service to all Foundation team members, applicants, grantees, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a cross-functional team on continuous process improvement to increase efficiencies and effectiveness across the organization.
  • Ability to assess grants, interpret grant and other financial and numerical data and draw accurate conclusions.
  • Passionate about making an impact and finding ways to build strong, vibrant communities that will create opportunities for people to achieve economic success and enjoy a high quality of life.
  • Ability to humbly and effectively work with nonprofits and partners in local communities.
  • Highly professional and shows discretion dealing with confidential information.

Work Environment

This position is based in the foundation’s Omaha office. We operate in a hybrid model and require staff to be in the office four days per week.

This is primarily a sedentary role. However, the person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff, access files, office machinery and a copy machine/printer.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $55,000-70,000, depending on experience.
