SUMMARY

This position is responsible to set up, operate and assist others on one or more machines that automatically coils, forms, stamps, wraps etc. metal wire and strip while providing verbal and written instructions. The Technician will help to implement standards and ensure quality by following and/or instructing others on the use of sketches, blueprints, setup charts, comparator, and other measuring instruments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Capable of all level I, II and III Operator instructions.

Capable of manipulating, troubleshooting, programming, and performing key operations of a robotic cell (Fanuc).

Capable of set up, troubleshooting, and assisting others as required on all machines in the Wire Form department.

Capable of running prototypes and samples per diagrams, sketches, blueprints or instructions.

Assist supervisor, maintenance, tool room, lead person, and operators in department required.

Capable of training associates on the operation/set up of equipment to produce a quality part.

Assist and train others on how to load a payoff reel with wire specified.

Assist and train others how to thread the end of stock through feed rollers, material guides and under the cutting tool.

Assist and train others on how to measure parts for conformance to specifications using micrometers, calipers, gauges and load testers per control plan.

Assist in determining the most efficient production speeds based on quality, cost and productivity and set up and/or adjust machines to these standards.

Complete, instruct, or assist others with repairs or adjustments when the machine malfunctions or intervention is required to proactively improve machine capability.

Support the oversight of the collections of stastitical data and assist in the performance of minor adjustments to machine if given control limits are exceeded or trending in a negative direction.

Maintain appropriate production, maintenance, tooling and quality records.

Assist or perform preventative maintenance to all equipment and is responsible for the cleanliness of the department and surrounding work area.

Follow and promote safety guidelines in the operation of equipment. Ensure other employees operate equipment with safety doors, switches, interlocks, blocks, light curtains, guards, etc. in operating condition.

May perform secondary operations to parts including inspection, setting, assembly, or packaging.

Required to know about and apply the Quality and Environmental systems, policies, procedures and work instructions as part of normal job function.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). An Associates Degree or Certification from an accredited training facility in the use of robotics (particularly Fanuc) is highly desirable. Must be familiar with automation and/or robotics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization Ability to speak effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out installations and adjustments to machinery used in the course of performing the essential duties and responsibilities. Candidates must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with the ability to multi-task and meet production deadlines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
