Position Summary:
Command Cyber Solutions (a federal government contractor) is seeking qualified candidates as Advanced Medical Instructor (AMI) who will provide basic and advanced medical instruction curriculum course development and program-of-instruction (POI) recommendations in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF) Medical Instruction and Instructional Writing Support Services for the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Medical Courses offered by the JSOMTC, U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Serve as primary teaching staff in eight (8) concurrently run medical curriculum courses. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical accuracy and quality of subject matter presentations in the Special Forces Medical Sergeant (SFMS) and Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) courses. Serve as Assistant Instructor (AI) in classes where they do not have primary teaching responsibilities
• Perform duties of AI and technical consultant, and advisor during surgical blocks of instruction and demonstration
• Perform as technical consultant and advisor for content and quality of all presentations
• Coordinate classes and prepare lesson plans, to include developing and implementing practical exercises and learning activities
• Use teaching methods for large group classroom instruction, small group instruction, and hands-on training
• Assemble and maintain all materials including lesson plans, visitor’s folder, etc.
• Assist in the recommendation and evaluation of new or emerging medical technology field
• Serve as informal cadre and student mentors
• Sit as medical technical consultant and advisor on review boards, and as a consultant to the course directors and academic panels
• Manage and monitor the institutional programs
• Analyze, design, create, implement, and evaluate lesson products to include lesson plans, lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, supplemental handouts, videos, homework assignments, grade sheets, and exam questions
• Produce curriculum that is accurate, relevant, and synchronized with force requirements that fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Incorporate deliberate strategies to ensure required graduate skill levels, knowledge, and abilities transfer from the institutional environment to the operational environment
• Update and rewrite lesson products as required by changes in doctrine and curriculum development
• Support daily operations to include all instruction and hands on application thru practical exercise with various tools for medical instruction
• Maintain, update, proofread and recommend changes to program lessons plans to include class content
• Advise on development and implementation of course material
• Provide expertise for planning and executing future classes and exercises and provide recommendations for final approval
• Provide input on doctrine development and changes, and curriculum updates
• Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services on equipment and systems
• Identify and report any training/system deficiencies that may have impact on the ability to accomplish training objectives
• Design/create electronic aids is support of training objectives
• Create tables/maintain data and query system
• Develop educational and command slide presentations
• Perform database/statistics compilation and analysis
• Manage educational program administrative requirements
• Other duties as assigned.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:
• Prior Military Experience
• Medical/Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)/Advanced Nursing License
• Must be a graduate of a World Health Organization accredited medical school or American Medical Association/American Academy of Physician Assistants accredited Physician Assistant program or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
• Must have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination or National Committee on the Certification of Physician Assistants certification test or equivalent nursing licensure exam.
• One (1) year of experience as a member of a United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) deployable special operations unit or at least one (1) year of experience as an instructor in a USSOCOM medical pipeline course.
• Ability to work effectively in an austere field training environment for up to 12 hours conducting up to five (5) cross country movements per day, up to 400 meters
Certifications/Courses:
• American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) PEPP Instructor
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor
• American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Instructor
• United States Army Small Group Instructor Training Course (provided by Government), or Instructor Training Course (ITC)
• Curriculum Development Course (CDC-provided by Government)
• IAT Level I (A , Network )
• SECRET Level Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
• Knowledge and ability to provide training in the areas of anatomy, physiology, basic physical exams, medical patient assessment, medical documentation, combat casualty care, pre-hospital trauma emergencies and care, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
• Computer skills
• Expertise with Microsoft Windows OS XP Pro, Word, Power Point, and Excel without further training
• Ability to operate common office equipment and perform administrative office duties
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time instructing
• Ability to utilize fine motor skills
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:
• Works under general supervision and reports to the Contract Manager
• Services may be provided at government facility
• Requires standing for long periods of time instructing
• Core Hours are 8am to 5pm
• May require some travel and after-hours support
• Duties are subject to change based on the needs of the government customer
