As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in various tasks related to the dispensing of medications and providing excellent customer service to patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with Prescription Processing: Receive, interpret, and input prescription information into the pharmacy computer system. Ensure accuracy and completeness of prescription details.
- Dispensing Medications: Prepare prescription medications by counting, pouring, labeling, and packaging them appropriately. Maintain a clean and organized dispensing area.
- Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and maintaining adequate inventory levels of medications and supplies. Help with ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and pharmacy products.
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and assist them with inquiries, prescription drop-offs, and pick-ups. Provide information on prescription medications, over-the-counter products, and general health-related inquiries.
- Billing and Insurance Processing: Assist in processing insurance claims and third-party billing. Verify insurance coverage and coordinate with patients regarding payment for medications.
- Compliance and Record Keeping: Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and protocols. Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, transactions, and inventory levels.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality control activities, such as checking medication expiration dates, monitoring storage conditions, and assisting with medication recalls if necessary.
- Assisting Healthcare Professionals: Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to support patient care activities, including medication therapy management and medication counseling.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or training as a pharmacy technician is a plus.
- Proficient in Excel
- Prior experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications.
