INTAKE SPECIALIST

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Education/Experience (REQUIRED):
- ADT, CSC, CAC or greater certification valid in Maryland
- 1 year experience in the field of Substance Abuse/Mental Health/dealing with At-risk population.
Position Overview:
- The Intake Specialist will play a vital role within the organization and will in most instances be the first person that the incoming consumer will meet.
- The primary function of the Intake specialist is to facilitate placement into an appropriate level of treatment for incoming consumers.
- The Intake Specialist will greet the incoming consumer in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring that they are comfortable and understanding of the process while collecting consumer information, ID's, background information etc. to secure appointments with clinicians, managing the scheduling calendar, conducting insurance verification and answering the phones.
Essential Responsibilities:
- The Intake Coordinator will complete the pre-screening process for all new consumers, facilitating and evaluating the therapeutic, medical and physical arrangements of incoming consumers.
- Intake coordinator will complete the admission process for new consumers including signing all consents, completing ROI’s, initiating the in-person intake process.
- Initiate the scheduling, transportation, and necessary arrangements to transition consumers into treatment efficiently.
- Facilitate proper communication to ensure treatment team and support staff are prepared for admission to orient consumer and address urgent clinical needs, medical needs and to follow up on anything needed to secure consumers placement at the appropriate facility.
- Intake Coordinator will evaluate and assign all consumers to the appropriate level of treatment, submitting all applicable referrals.
- Answer and respond immediately to telephone/webform inquiries concerning potential consumer admissions
- Schedule all necessary appointments, i.e. initial physical, initial assessment, therapy appointment etc.
- Complete consumer initial Assessment, ASAM, and Treatment Plan
- Maintain an accurate knowledge of the services that the organization provides to be able to answer any questions from the consumer, callers and referral sources.
- Enter all new client information into the electronic medical record system, allocating tasks as necessary.
- Coordinate with each department regarding coordination of referrals, authorizations, and transportation needed to immediately admit consumers.
- Maintain compassionate, professional, and confident rapport with patients to cultivate confidence in treatment and commitment to admit as scheduled.
- Communicate program features, clinical impact, services offered, and any additional information needed to promote facility and support patients, families, and others instrumental in facilitating admissions for those who can benefit from treatment.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with patient information and interactions
- Multi-task, think critically, and work quickly to resolve problems as they arise, consulting clinical staff as needed for guidance.
