What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Business Development position at Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and Footprint Center?

The Manager, Business Development will be responsible for leading and managing the group sales efforts and assist with strategy for the department. They will focus their time on the training and development of the business development team members. This position will launch sales strategy development, establish internal collaboration, recruiting and train staff, and serve as the internal expert on all things group sales. The ideal candidate will have the strategic expertise to help build a leading sales team and sales culture.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead group of business development team members focused on selling, servicing and retaining our top group and partial accounts
  • Collaborate closely with Director, Business Development & Sales Associate Program along with BI to review and develop new reporting insights that will aide in our business execution
  • Oversee team of business development team members focused on new business generation for group sales, new plan sales, partial plans & single night suite rentals
  • Attend regular client meetings to observe, coach and assist business development sales team members
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance

What We Need From Our Manager:

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous working experience with Microsoft CRM Dynamics/KORE is a plus
  • Previous working experience with Archtics or another similar ticketing system
  • Likely has support-level direct reports and/or leads project teams
  • Sets a positive example for co-workers
  • Understands and leverages strengths and actively identifies development opportunities for self and others
  • Key contact for clarification, guidance or course correction on work they are leading
  • When delegating tasks, weighs motivation and development opportunity as well as performance
  • Maintain bi-weekly meetings with team members to understand at risk group and p[atrial accounts and develop detailed strategies to win back those accounts
  • Maintain bi-weekly meetings with team members to coach on pipeline and establish areas of opportunity/action items
  • Maintain bi-weekly meeting with Director, Business Development & Sales Associate Program to coordinate sales team members outreach/focus
  • Maintain weekly deal meeting to focus on strategy and coaching in team environment

Education and experience:

  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a Plus
