The Role
Piccione Vineyards is seeking a Tasting Room Manager to oversee operations at our newly constructed Tasting House, La Collina. Strong candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in hospitality management, a passion for the North Carolina wine industry, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. As a key leader, this role reports to the owner of Piccione Vineyards and will manage all aspects of the tasting room, ensure an exceptional customer experience, drive toward sales and wine club acquisition goals, and foster a warm and rewarding work environment in a high-volume, customer-centric setting.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Create memorable experiences for guests by leading customer-facing activities – such wine tastings, building tours, and events – alongside a passionate and knowledgeable staff that you train and manage
- Ensure that every customer and member of your team feels excited to be at Piccione Vineyards by maintaining a warm, welcoming environment
- Staffing: Recruit and manage an exceptional tasting room staff (e.g. associates, busboys, valets, etc.), ensuring a supportive and engaging work environment. Includes handling staffing, payroll, tip distribution, and compliance.
- Office Management: Manage and organize invoices, accounts payable/receivable, year-end reporting, and other core business bookkeeping. Additionally, manage the daily open-close procedures, including tip distribution, cash drawer management, and end-of-day reporting.
- Wine Club: Coordinate the quarterly wine club, manage fulfillment, and maintain policies.
- Policy Management: Develop and maintain company policies, including wine club and guest policies, to consistently deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Inventory & Supplies: Oversee the ordering and maintenance of supplies, hardware, and merchandise, ensuring all needed materials, from wine glasses to tech essentials, are available. Assist with monthly inventory counts.
- Wine Distribution: Oversee local wine distribution efforts with retailers, restaurants, and other partners.
- Safe & Clean Workplace: Ensure order and cleanliness in customer areas and back-of-house.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role within retail or hospitality.
- Knowledge of wine, wine production, and the wine industry.
- Friendly, positive demeanor when interacting with guests, vendors, and team members.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Familiarity with POS systems (e.g. Square, Toast, Clover)
- Proficient in Excel, Word or Google Sheets, Docs
- Availability to work weekends, special events, and/or occasional holidays.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, follow up, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry weights of up to 40 pounds (i.e. typical case of wine)
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
