What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diabetes Educator-PRN, Athens position at Piedmont Healthcare?
Functions in the specialty role of Diabetes Educator by providing direct patient care in the acute care and ambulatory settings based on consultative requests from the medical staff. Works closely with the entire medical staff and nursing staff to prepare patients for discharge in a safe, efficient manner. Provides tools and skills for homecare to patients and families. Makes recommendations to hospital staff for changes in diabetes management. Serves as an educational and informational resource to all hospital staff and the community.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a Nursing program or Bachelors of Science in applicable field.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), or Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Experience in Diabetes Education preferred.
