Throughout the training process you will meet with the Assistant Building Official (ABO) regularly to discuss expectations and set goals for your team. They will introduce you to the current policies and procedures, technology/software, and Pierce County Code. Your Future in this Role: You will have an opportunity to work alongside the ABO, Building Official, and other division leads to meet department goals and ensure ongoing economic prosperity through efficient permitting and construction code compliance. Your work will directly impact your community and it offers a great foundation for future positions within the PPW Department and Pierce County.
Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Assign work to team and ensure tasks are completed correctly and timely.
- Serve as liaison with other departments and/or divisions as necessary regarding code compliance.
- Provide information to architects, engineers and the public regarding code compliance and plan corrections.
- Coordinate or prepare reports, drawings, and code revisions.
- Assist in implementation of policy and procedure improvements.
- Review commercial and residential blueprints and construction plans for conformance with various County codes.

- Additional education and/or related experience may substitute for the below recruiting requirements
- Associate of Arts degree in Building Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; AND
- Four or more years experience in building/fire inspection, plans examining; AND
- Current I.C.C. Plans Examiner, Mechanical and Plumbing certification
- One year of lead or supervisory experience
