Piggly Wiggly in Bluff Park Hoover has an opening for a Wine and Beer Associate to work alongside our Wine and Beer Department Manager with over 15 years of experience.
Job Description:
This is a full-time position, meant as a gateway into the industry. They will learn as much as they are willing and make connections with every wine and beer distributor in the area.
The growth potential is high, and additional opportunities within Piggly Wiggly as well as supporting career goals outside of our stores are a major bonus.
This employee should be a highly motivated person, passionate about service, willing to smile, sweat, learn, and take personal ownership over their part of one of the busiest wine and beer locations in Birmingham.
Wine and Beer knowledge are a plus, but not a requirement.
Duties include:
- Maintaining stock levels of beer and wine on the retail sales floor
- Assisting customers as they navigate the vast selection of choices
- Helping to organize and rotate backstock
- Tasting new wines and beers to build expertise
- Developing the skills to participate in purchasing decisions
- Learning to read sales reports and evaluate profitability
- Building a rapport with the neighborhood to help customers find new favorites
