SCOPE OF POSITION:


Reporting direct to the Director of Operations is responsible for managing day to day store operations and supervisory/management staff. Direct reports include: Assistant Store Mgrs., MODs, Department Heads, Pricing Coordinator, and Receiving Clerk. May directly perform duties/functions performed by direct reports when required.


BASIC FUNCTION
: Effectively/efficiently manage, direct, coordinate all phases of store operations to obtain/maintain optimal sales and meet targeted projections/goals through effective utilization of facilities, resources and personnel. Promotes and maintains positive customer, community and employee relations. Maintains high standards of employee morale and promotes team cooperation.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, positive, team oriented, customer focused attitude within internal store personnel and between all store locations. Leads by example.
  • Stays aware of concerns, issues, etc. warranting their attention, knowledge of, action and/or resolution in a timely manner.
  • Ensures direction, motivation, coordination, training, development, follow-up and performance evaluation of store personnel.
  • Ensures store compliance to store and governmental requirements/regulation.
  • Acts as company representative within store and community.
  • Ensures that all departments and store personnel operate in an efficient/effective manner and follow established company policies/procedures.
  • Is visible in store operations to employees and customer. Spends time each department on a weekly basis.
  • Is responsible for employee work schedules and controlling labor, overhead, and product wastage/spoilage to ensure operating expenses are in line with store sales, budget and operating results.
  • Assists Director of Operations and Owners with development of annual budget as may be required. Works with other managers, staff, etc. in implementation of approved budget and ensures operational expenses are at or below budget.
  • Ensures all merchandises properly priced in accordance with store pricing guide through price guide and shelf audits. Monitors competitive pricing to other stores via competitive shopping field trips and review of advertisements.
  • Reviews work schedules of Checkers/Stockers weekly and for other areas on a seasonal/holiday or need be basis. Utilizes Sales/Man Hour reports to adjust work schedules & staffing as needed.
  • Controls inventory levels to minimize over/under-stocks, turns and return on investment.
  • Responsible for displays which includes safety, efficient utilization of space, timely seasonally and merchandising for maximum appeal, sales and profits.
  • Interfaces with salesmen, manufactures reps, brokers, etc. Evaluates and approves vendor promotions in accordance with established company policy to select and purchase products that best achieve store objectives/goals. Recommends cost-savings as necessary.
  • Set up and maintain store records, files and data bases as required. Ensures security and confidentiality of assigned company records, data bases, files, etc. Ensures departmental records are maintained as required.
  • Ensures maximum utilization of store personnel through effective scheduling, training/cross training, mentoring, supervision, motivation, team meetings, counseling and performance/development evaluation.
  • Responsible for efficient delegation of duties/responsibilities to direct reports to ensure maximum performance. Audits performance and takes appropriate/timely corrective action as required.
  • Responsible for all hiring to make sure the store has adequate staff to deliver superior service with Soup in all departments.
  • Promotes, supports, and attends safety Committee meetings Enforces safety rules/requirements.
  • Stay abreast of government regulations and requirements within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Keeps Director of Operations and owners aware of concern, issues, etc. warranting the supervisors attention, knowledge of, action and/or resolution.
  • Oversee day to day maintenance of store equipment. (Act as the initial handy man) Contacts outside contractors to resolve maintenance problems unable to resolve internally.

Position Specific Requirements:

1.Comprehensive working knowledge of over-all store operations, departments, practices and procedures.

2.Management/supervisory experience required with sound human relations experience.

3.Able to work efficiently/effectively in a fast paces multi changing work environment.

4.Possess math skills necessary to deal with planning, pricing, scheduling, margins, percentages and basic financial/accounting functions within areas of responsibility.

5.Excellent management, administrative, team building, mentoring, organization, coordination, attention to detail and follow through skills.

6.Excellent presentation, communication and public relations skills.

7.Proficient PC skill with related spread sheet and software applications experience.

8.Able to do limited travel for Conventions, special meetings, product shows, etc.

9.Effectively work with people of varied socioeconomic backgrounds.

10. Able to represent Store as a member of a community civic organization.

11. Able to work varied hours and shifts as required.


EQUIPMENT/TOOLS OPERATED
: Proficient skill in operation of standard store and office equipment which includes fax, multi-phone line equipment, PC, copy machine, calculator, printers, etc.
