Job Requirements:
Education and/or Experience: High-school diploma or equivalent, with vocational training in painting or sufficient post-high school experience as a spray painter.
Language Skills: N/A
Mathematical Skills: Above Average
Reasoning Ability: Average
Job Description:
Preparation:
Prepare industrial cabinets, furnaces, pump stations, and other industrial equipment for painting. This may include some or all of the following;
Partially disassembly of the equipment as necessary, (may involve reading blueprints).
Clean, sand, grind, and mask off areas not to be painted.
Fill holes with Bondo, or other fillers.
Grind and sand dried filler to produce a smooth finish.
Apply primer when and where needed.
Painting:
Mix paints, thinners, activators, etc. as per manufacturers instructions, or written or oral procedures or instructions supplied by other experienced Ajax TOCCO painters.
Prepare, adjust, set-up spray guns.
Apply spray paint using a variety of pneumatic spray guns.
Properly evaluate the need for further coats of paint, or the need to re-do areas not properly prepared.
Inspect final product to insure adherence to company quality standards.
Finishing:
Determine proper drying time.
Remove masking tape.
Reassembly of equipment after painting without damaging the paint.
Perform final inspection before shipment to customer.
Qualification Requirements: Must be able to pass physical exam to determine the ability to wear a breathing respirator.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 70#.
