The HIM Lead will be responsible for the Release of Information team. 
What Will You Do?
As a HIM Lead  at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion.  Under the direct supervision of the HIM Manager, the HIM Lead is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate administrative duties related to the release of HRS medical records, HIM customer service, continuation of care chart faxing, and chart integrity maintained through accurate: chart processing, document imaging, and quality validation. Serves as point of contact for all HIM related issues from staff, providers, and other departments. The HIM Lead is dedicated to excellent customer service, enthusiastic about the care we offer, and foster a sense of belonging and empowerment in a diverse workplace.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work and communicate effectively with providers and employees of the Contact Center/Utilization Management, Patient Accounts, Shared Services, Information Systems, ORS departments, and others, as needed.
  • Appropriately interact with the hospital administrators, directors, and staff leads.
  • Will be required to work in a highly confidential area without disclosure of confidential information.
  • Serves as first point of contact for staff and providers for HIM related questions.
  • Ensures quality and accuracy of chart processing cycle
  • Ensures HRS release of information is handled in accordance with federal and state guidelines, including HIPAA and MMHC.
  • Serves as point of contact for staff education regarding HIM processes.
  • Monitors productivity standards to achieve maximum efficiency levels.
  • Develops chart processing and release schedules
  • Participates in hiring and training of new HIM employees
  • Encourages employee empowerment and independent thinking
  • Demonstrates a consistent level of performance; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity.
  • Assists HIM Manager with developing and maintaining department policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employed and contracted staff payroll processing is completed accurately and on time
  • Understands and meets current Joint Commission and other licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Complies in all material respects with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all federal, State and local laws and regulations applicable to position.
  • Notifies manager or the Corporate Compliance Officer (CCO) if any violations are suspected.


What Does This Role Require?
Education/Experience:
•Minimum associate degree in HIM required.
•Required certification as RHIA or RHIT
•Required 1-3 years HIM experience
•Completion of medical terminology course
