Position Summary
The Patient Registration Specialist (PRS) Greets, instructs, directs and schedules patients and visitors. The PRS also, serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff and is Responsible for entering all patient demographic and insurance information upon check in.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
•Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner; answers requests for information.
•Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information.
•Advises patients regarding certain financial obligations including but not limited to co-payments, deductible amounts, etc.
•Assures that patients are kept apprised of physician’s timetable in the event it will increase the patient’s waiting time.
•Reviews Demo and MS for completeness and to assure they are in order.
•Insures HIPAA, Financial Policy, Insurance Information, Release of Information, and Notice of Privacy Practices is completed by the patient upon check in.
•Maintains a thorough knowledge of physicians, their specialties and medical practices.
•Maintains lobby in a neat and orderly manner including keeping magazines current.
•Maintains patient and practice confidentiality.
•Maintains professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians and coworkers.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: One to two year experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Day Shift (Monday through Friday) no weekends or holidays
40 Hours Per Week
