Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Location: Monmouth, ME
Compensation: $55K-$65K, Plus Excellent Benefits and Generous Time Off & Vacations!
Our Philosophy:
At Maine School Solutions, we provide individualized therapeutic support, educational services, and individualized interventions to students in grades k-12 that receive special education services and have not been successful in public school. All students are served with specially designed instruction, have an assigned school social worker, and are supported by Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs) and other professionals in a highly structured environment.
Educational Requirements:
· Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy
· Current National Board Certification
· State of Maine Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant Licensure (COTA)
Direct Supervisors: Director of Occupational Therapy and the Director of Ed. Services
Job Duties: The primary responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist Assistant include but are not limited to:
· Providing occupational therapy services for students as specified in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
· Documenting sessions thoroughly including each student’s progress towards their occupational therapy goals within five days of the services being rendered.
· Using only evidenced based practice during OT sessions.
· Planning and implementing activities to help students develop functional physical, academic, and mental skills.
· Utilizing treatment techniques such as task-oriented activities to prevent and correct physical and emotional deficits of students.
· Facilitating skills groups based upon the needs of the students.
· Preparing and reporting student progress, goals, and future plans during academic and IEP meetings for students on the OT caseload.
· Collaborating with the Director of OT to develop a schedule for providing services to students at both school locations.
· Collaborating with administration, BHP’s, teachers, clinicians, and other providers in order to provide comprehensive support and treatment to students across the entire program.
· Supporting and assisting BHP’s and teachers with behavior management when needed.
· Being familiar with and adhering to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations that govern the scope of the OT practice.
· Maintaining national certification and State of Maine licensure.
· Maintaining student confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
· Participating in and maintain all program required trainings (TCI, CPR, Safety, Etc.)
· Adhering to all company and program policies and procedures.
· Any other duties as assigned by the OT Director, Program Director, or Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA).
· Other duties assigned by the Director of OT and the Director of Ed. Services
