WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Custodian is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and visitors; and provides quality services designed to promote successful community living.
As a member of the PHS team committed to the mission and vision of top-notch programs, the Custodian performs assigned / scheduled janitorial duties.
Further, the Custodian is responsible for suggesting and recommending changes in program, policy, and procedure.
PRIMARY / ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintain Program & Facility Safety :
Remove garbage from each floor at the beginning at end of shift. This requires transporting the cans on wheels to the garbage compactors and recycling bins.
Additionally, this requires bringing the larger containers to the street periodically throughout the week.
- Clean common area floors including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and waxing as needed.
- Clean and sanitize lavatories and wash basins, clean mirrors, walls, and wash room floors.
- Complete pre-approved maintenance items as requested
- Report any maintenance problems or issues identified while conducting building rounds in a timely manner to the Facility Manager.
Maintain Documentation :
- Maintain an inventory of supplies needed to perform required duties.
- Perform monthly inspections as requested.
Participant Engagement :
Respond to residents’ concerns, and provide assistance as indicated.
Coordinate with the Facility Managers, and Program Manager to ensure issues and problems are addressed in a timely fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS : REQUIRED
REQUIRED
- Formal education not required
- Intermediate level of computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,
- Current CPR / First AID Certification or within two months of hire.
PREFERRED / DESIRABLE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in janitorial / custodial work.
One-year experience in human services, preferably working with homeless adults, the economically disadvantaged, mentally health disorders or chemically dependent.
