JOB SUMMARY:
Works directly with Production Support and Tooling Supervisor to design efficient tooling to maximize load density while meeting all customer specifications and quality requirements. Continually review existing jobs to improve efficiencies of racking and develop tools to assist in making jobs more efficient and improve quality. Develop written procedures for rack maintenance and quality plans relating to tooling.
- Skilled in Mig and Tig welding of aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium.
- Provide tooling and load size recommendations for quoting purposes
- Design and fabricate tooling to maximize load density and efficiency. Such as but not limited:
? Tooling will ensure good electrical contact.
? Racks will securely hold the product to prevent loss of parts or contact.
? Proper part placement to prevent air pocketing, give adequate drainage, etc
? Fabricating racks to meet customer requirements.
- Develop hand tools for rackers and unrackers to improve efficiency and quality.
- Work directly with hand and power tools, gauges, and measuring instruments.
- Work closely with the quality department when writing procedures for both special tooling and basic production tooling.
- Work directly with Production and Team Leader/Supervisor to determine daily priorities needed on tooling requirements, maintenance schedules and procedures for both special tooling and basic production
- Advise Team Leader or Supervisor if tooling needs cannot be met on time and together decide what to do
- Performs some machining operations such as, but not limited to drilling, reaming, tapping, grinding, cutting, etc.
- Recognize operating irregularities and machine malfunctions and notify designated person or Supervisor
- Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as assigned by the Tooling Supervisor or other designated person.
- Maintains a positive attitude, promoting teamwork between Tooling, Production and QA departments.
- Must exhibit communication skills to work with various departments and work directly with applicable vendors.
- Repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
- Must be able to differentiate between color variance.
- Potential splash exposure near process lines.
- Responsibilities are repetitive in nature.
- Various chemicals used in process.
- 5-7 years related experience strongly preferred.
- Fabrication and welding experience Preferred
- Highly motivated
- Creative open-minded thinker
- Accurately communicate through both oral and written communication
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Requires strong mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize projects
