What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Operator III-II position at Pioneer Natural Resources Company?
The Production Operator assists the Production Operators and Foremen with operating and inspecting pumping and wellhead equipment, among other duties. Support Pioneer field operations throughout the Permian by ensuring that Pioneer’s Safely 8760 and Stewardship 365 objectives are met and driven consistently at the field level. Expected to exemplify and enforce HSE policies. Be accountable for tasks being performed on locations to ensure safe work. Once employed, a skill matrix coinciding with this description will be assigned that further defines the job duties for progression/promotion purposes. Job Duties: Operates and inspects pumping and wellhead equipment to ensure proper operation and recover maximum production. Knows basic operation and proper maintenance of electrical panels, gas engines, testers, phase separators, water knock outs, heaters and stock tanks, and all other on-site wellhead equipment and compressors. Assists routine maintenance of production equipment, learning to check fluid levels of pump jacks, wellhead engines and wellhead compressors. Detects oil, water or gas leaks, and broken seals on tank valves. Also uses proper lockout/tagout procedures. Performs more complex maintenance and repairs; handles more complex, non-routine issues than those handled by less experienced Lease Operators. Determines when semi-routine repairs or adjustments are needed and reports them to Lead or Supervisor. Reads and records daily numbers from lease oil and gas measurement equipment. Differentiates between normal and abnormal readings such as pressure readings; resets or makes valve repairs as necessary. Identifies urgent situations and acts appropriately. Ensures tank thief hatches are securely closed. Utilizes ignition, TAP and SCADA equipment for well surveillance to optimize production and prevent spills. Completes required paperwork (e.g. gauge sheets, compressor and engine logs, and preventative maintenance logs). Enters daily production readings, well test readings and run tickets into eVIN and TOW (The Oilfield Workstation) computer systems. Advises water haulers when water is ready for pickup and disposal. Collects, analyzes and resets malfunctions on automated wells. Attend well reviews and provide input towards well performance. Runs required reports and recognizes when well production is declining; decides how to fix, repair or adjust equipment to retain or recover lost production. Performs other/additional duties as assigned by Supervisor. Internal applicants should meet all eligibility requirements per employee handbook. Qualifications: High school education or equivalent. 6 months oil and gas experience and/or 6 months Production Operator IV or equivalent experience required. 1.5 years oil and gas experience and/or 1 year Production Operator III or equivalent experience preferred. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills required of the position. A current valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record is required. Easily reads pressure gauges and completes paperwork. Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office. Proficient in appropriate uses of hand tools such as grease guns and wrenches to lubricate or tighten equipment. Salary competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
