Elementary School Level Tutor

Position Overview

Elementary-level tutors at Pittsburgh Prep will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to elementary-level students, both in-home and at our tutoring center. The tutor will work closely with the Academic Director to create personalized study plans, ensuring that each student receives the appropriate level of enrichment or remediation.

Wage & Working Hours

• Hourly, part-time commitment (2-20 hrs/week)
• Conduct tutoring sessions at students' homes, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment both in client homes and in Pittsburgh Prep’s classrooms..

Responsibilities

• TeachingProvide tailored instruction to elementary-level students in various subjects.
• Utilize effective teaching methods and resources to engage and support students.
• Assess students' strengths and areas for improvement to determine whether enrichment or remedial instruction is needed.
• Adjust study plans based on ongoing assessment and feedback.
• Establish clear communication with parents/guardians regarding progress and areas for improvement both in person and with progress reports.

• Student managementWork closely with the Academic Director to design and implement personalized study plans for each student.
• Develop and implement appropriate strategies to meet each student's unique learning needs.
• Work with families to fit an appropriate scheduling plan for each student
• Regularly assess and track students' progress towards academic goals.
• Keep the Academic Director abreast of progress or issues regularly
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align tutoring efforts with classroom instruction.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in education
• 3 years of teaching experience
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in common office systems (Google Workplace, Slack, Desmos, etc.)
• Must be able to reliably commute to student's home tutoring

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
