Financial Analyst

Planet Fitness World Headquarters is searching for a Financial Analyst to join our team! 

In this role, you will interact with key business partners and provide financial analysis in support of several business segments. It requires daily use of financial analysis skills including an understanding of materiality, application of management accounting concepts and spreadsheet mastering skills for compiling and analyzing financial information for the organization. As our Financial Analyst, you will prepare, maintain and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance results and ensure financial information has been reported timely and accurately. The ability to maintain and develop complex financial modeling, reporting and planning tools and processes in support of departmental and/or company objectives, is essential for this role. You will develop financial forecasts and budgets and assist in developing management reports and presentations as well as ad hoc analyses as needed.

The successful candidate must be self-driven to accurately complete project tasks on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve forecasting models and methodology by reviewing historical trends, analyzing drivers, and develop new forecast models and methodology using advanced technical and analytical methods.
• Process, develop and analyze large amounts of data to identify and understand trends that will support key initiatives and ad hoc projects.
• Perform variance analysis across several business segments against budget, forecast and prior period and provide standard monthly reporting to key business unit leaders on a timely basis.
• Work collaboratively with business unit leaders in preparing budget, forecasts, and long-range plans, with a detailed focus on various operational and general and administrative functional areas, as well as various revenue streams.
• Support month end close process by reviewing transactional data for monthly expense and revenue accounts and re-class of journal entries as needed.
• Design, build and continuously improve financial/operational reports and presentations provided to key operational leaders and senior management.
• Execute ad-hoc analytic requests, database queries, and report generation as needed.
• Effectively manage multiple projects that support financial and operational strategy initiatives.
• Assist and support with key financial software implementations and initiatives, as well as support systems improvements and process improvements.

Qualifications/Skills: 

• BS Finance/Accounting/Business
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a financial analysis or accounting role
• Good understanding of financial statements including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced skills in Excel
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work proactively, independently and as a strategic partner in a team environment
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and effectively communicate with upper management
• Experience working with large data sets
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
• Cognos BI/TM1 or Hyperion knowledge a plus
• Great Plains or other general ledger experience a plus
• Knowledge and experience in retail industry a plus
