Job Description Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will provide direct support to club managers, staff, and department heads.  Working with the Human Resources team, this person will assist with all aspects of Human Resources including but not limited to recruitment and staffing, onboarding, orientation; employee relations; performance management, discipline, terminations, and offboarding; compensation and benefits; policies, procedures, and legal issues; and HRIS management.  This position reports to the VP of People & Culture.

 

Essential Duties

Staffing, Retention, and Performance

  • Recruit and onboard staff for headquarters and assist with sourcing staff for clubs;
  • Update job descriptions;
  • Assist with performance evaluation processes and metrics;
  • Assist with retention and employee recognition programs and foster an environment of teamwork;
  • Manage employee relations issues and make recommendations and follow-up on action items resulting from investigations;
  • Collaborate with club managers and staff and department heads to assist them in their responsibilities on personnel matters and assist with disciplinary actions and terminations;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that embraces the contributions of all team members;

Organizational Development

  • Understand the organization’s goals and strategies and assist in executing best practices;
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies and processes to develop and drive the performance of an engaged and diverse workforce;
  • Assist in developing communications for the department and organization supporting culture, vision, and values to help guide actions and decisions of employees;
  • Build and maintain relationships providing support, guidance, and counsel;
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate events;
  • Assist with Human Resources projects and initiatives;
  • Promote a friendly and respectful atmosphere and culture; 
  • Research trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies to improve best practices; and,
  • Assist with updating policies, procedures, practices, and maintaining employee handbook.

Compliance and Legal

  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations and reporting (employment law posters, I-9 documentation, OSHA and EEOC reporting, etc.);
  • Educate staff on, and enforce policies & procedures; and,
  • Assist with conducting internal investigations related to allegations of harassment, bullying, and discrimination as well as other policy violations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Assist in the execution of compensation strategies;
  • Assist with the benefits enrollment process and annual open enrollment;
  • Assist with wellness initiatives and activities;  
  • Work with staff and third-party vendors on Unemployment and Workers’ Compensation claims; and,
  • Assist with leaves of absence including FMLA, STD, and LTD.

HRIS

  • Promote and support the effective use of HRIS within the organization;
  • Provide regular and timely maintenance for HRIS system;
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of HRIS records; and,
  • Create reports and provide information to management.

Learning & Development

  • Assist Leadership & Development team with developing and implementing training initiatives; and,
  • Actively participate in training webinars and seminars.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources;
  • HRIS experience;
  • Previous Human Resources experience;
  • Knowledge of HR laws, policies and best practices (local, state, and federal);
  • Experience working in both corporate and operations environments a plus; and,
  • Advanced computer literacy.

  • Quick learner and technologically savvy with proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

 

Physical Environment & Requirements

  • Primarily indoor office environment with normal exposure to light, sound, heat, and cold;
  • Desk work with ability to sit or stand;
  • Must be able frequently move, lift, push, pull, carry at least 30 lbs.;
