What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe position at Plastic Surgical Associates?

Dr. Diane Duncan of Plastic Surgical Associates is seeking a new graduate who is interested in learning more about medicine prior to starting the next phase of their healthcare career. At Plastic Surgical Associates you will experience all aspects of medical practice including diagnosis and treatment, surgery, practice management and providing excellent patient care.
As a clinical assistant, you will work side by side with Dr. Duncan during patient office visits. This is an invaluable clinical experience that has launched the professional medical careers of many of our employees.
Your duties will include:
- preparing for each visit by reviewing the patient’s medical history
- transcribing accurate and detailed clinical notes in our EMR from start to finish for providers
- assisting Dr. Duncan with office procedures
- answering patient inquiries regarding their care
- documenting patient consults
- care of surgical equipment and instruments
- assisting with clinical studies with potential for publication
The ideal candidate for this position is:
a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biology, pre-med, nursing or a related discipline
interested in a career in medicine or healthcare
planning to attend a professional school or graduate program in a healthcare field
medical scribe experience and basic knowledge of medical terminology
proficient with computers and electronic medical record systems
an excellent communicator who is compassionate, understanding and comfortable with patients
bright, energetic and highly motivated to succeed and learn
You must be available to start this position by September 1, 2023. The hours for this position are 8AM-5 PM Monday-Thursday, 8AM-3:30PM Friday. The position is 38-40 hours per week with health insurance (HSA plan) after 90 days of employment and SEP retirement after 3 years of employment.
