The Plymouth Police Department is currently accepting applications for a responsible/ motivated Police Sergeant to maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their properties, prevent crime and improve citizens’ quality of life. The goal is to achieve community safety and crime reduction in the Town of Plymouth.

The Plymouth Police Department serves a community of approximately 6,300 residents. Plymouth serves as a regional center for commerce with regional healthcare facilities, dining, and is home to Plymouth State University. RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Patrol Sergeant is responsible for the operational supervision of the patrol officers under his/her command and ensures efficient and effective police performances for patrol officers. Deter crimes and assure community through high-visibility policing Patrol assigned areas and monitor activities to protect people/property Investigate crimes and apprehend suspected law violators Observe and respond to various situations or emergencies Follow rules, guidelines and protocols Conduct initial investigations Gather evidence and ensure successful prosecutions Produce internal reports and provide feedback on case status Deal with case paperwork and administrative procedures Foster good public relationships and liaise with community groups or individuals Coordinate operations with other emergency services Attend and provide evidence in court
SKILLS:
Proven working experience in law enforcement Proficiency in using police equipment Excellent knowledge of standard operating procedures, judicial procedures, civil and constitutional laws Working knowledge of interrogation techniques and scene management Knowledge and skills of law enforcement principles and practices Adequate interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build effective working relationships Sound judgment along with effective decision making skills Conflict resolutions and problem solving skills Responsibility, dependability, honesty and integrity
QUALIFICATIONS:
All applicants for the Plymouth Police Department must:
~ Be United States citizens
~ Be high school graduates, or possess a GED certificate ~ Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment ~ College education and/or military experience are highly desirable.
~ At least five years progressively responsible experience in law enforcement and crime prevention; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skill and abilities.
PAY:
Up to $39.01 per hour depending on experience
