What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabricator Intern position at PM Steel?
P & M Steel Company is a custom steel fabricator with over 50 years in the Sioux Falls area seeking a Fabricator Intern to join our team. The Fabricator intern position learns to create the structural steel products, such as beams and columns, for P & M Steel by operating machine shop equipment and welding under the supervision and direction of the Fabrication Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lays out, positions and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using knowledge of welding techniques and engineering requirements.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the fabrication supervisor.
- Accurately reports time tracking for project costs.
- Communicates progress status to fabrication supervisor for scheduling.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance from fabrication supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, preferred.
- Attention to Detail.
