What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tech I - Equipment Maintenance Technician position at PODS?

Responsible for maintaining operational condition of equipment (which may include forklift, lift systems and delivery trucks) at all Storage Centers within a designated territory. Assist with ensuring a safe and clean working environment, inside and out, for assigned territory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule and perform maintenance on lift systems using diagnostic computers, gauges, instruments and may perform welding. May perform preventive maintenance on forklifts
- Complete and maintain records on repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance and provide to management as needed
- May provide training to Drivers on proper use of lift system to eliminate unnecessary repairs.
- When required, repair damaged containers to PODS standards and perform light carpentry work and repair in storage centers
- Flexibility to travel between storage centers in an assigned territory
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Market Manager, Territory Manager
- Though this positionis typicallyNOT directlyresponsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management), it may manage temporary staff during busy season
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Prior supervisory or team leader experience; warehouse experience preferred
- Welding experience preferred
- Light/Medium carpentry skills
- 2 years repair experience (forklift, hydraulic lift systems, vehicle maintenance, small engine repair)
- Forklift Driver Certification (preferred)
- Possess a current valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to remain in a stationary position and move about frequently
- Ability to frequently position self to repair equipment
- Ability to frequently move equipment and parts weighing up to 75 lbs with assistance
- Ability to ascend/descend a ladder to repair equipment
- Ability to communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shift start times may vary; additional hours may be required including nights and weekends. Required to work overtime as needed
- Travel requirements: Within Location Territory. Travel outside specific territory may be necessary for training reasons and to assist other markets with repairs as needed
- Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times
- Warehouse locations may not be climate controlled except for specific areas
- Regular attendance and punctuality required
- Subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening in accordance with company policy
