Job Title: Mold TechnicianDepartment: MoldingSupervisor: Tool Room ManagerShift: Shift 3 (11:30pm to 7:30am)POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Tool Room Manager, the Mold Technician is responsible for performing product changes, attending to mold issues during production, preparing molds for upcoming mold changes, performing work as defined by the Mold PM Program and preparing molds for storage after removal from machine. The Mold Technician will also be required to work in the tool room when required. POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:Remove Mold During Product ChangePre-Stage all equipment and necessary tools for mold removalObtain all necessary supplies from stores prior to removing moldRemove mold and all mold accessories from the machinePerform line clearancePrepare the mold to be transported to the tool roomInstall Mold During Product ChangePre-Stage Mold at machineObtain necessary supplies from stores prior to installationInstall the new mold by following proper proceduresTroubleshoot mold issues during installation processPrepare for Storage and InstallationFollow the tag out procedureInspect the mold out for repairs, tool wear and damagePerform repairs, clean the mold prior to storageStore the mold in the proper locationInspect, clean, polish the mold prior to installationRepair and Improve Molds During ProductionTroubleshoot molds during productionCheck mold alignmentSplit any mold to perform the following:Replace or clean tipsReplace gate padsClean mold (flash)Replace heatersClean cavity airBlock and unblock cavities when the need arisesPerform insert change or repairs, clean cores and gate insertsFix leaking insertsPerform Routine Preventative MaintenanceReplace mold inserts, nozzle tips,Check lubrication pointsSetting and checking mold alignmentDocumentationComplete the product change formReport out daily activities and update Tool Room labour board file.Mold Inspection checklist sheet SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Educational Requirements: Community College Certificate/Diploma from Injection Molding Training Institutes required.Physical Requirements: Must be able to work with constant exposure to moving machinery and noise.Experience Requirements: 2 years related experience in a molding facility. Previous experience working in a product change team and injection molding environment considered a definite asset.Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Certified to operate overhead crane and reach truck for mold transportation.Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills CORE COMPETENCIES FOR THIS POSITION:Able to read and understand a core mapAble to diagnose the problems with core shift.Must have basic set of mechanical tools and possess basic mechanical skillsElementary understanding of injection molding equipment and moldsAble to complete simple and complex installations of injection molds in a safe and timely manner.On the job training, Health and Safety, WHMIS, policies and procedures, protective equipment are provided by PolytainersDisclaimer: Polytainers is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
