What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bakery Assistant position at Pop's Corner?
Food Preparation: Assisting with the preparation of bulk, as well as the more elaborate bakery items such as breakfast pastries, cookies doughs, cakes, and all other desserts. This will include measuring ingredients, mixing dough, cutting pastry shapes, and decorating baked goods. Cake decorating is a huge plus!!
Baking: Operating baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters to bake various types of baked goods. This involves closely following recipes, monitoring baking times and temperatures to ensure that products are baked to perfection. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure all products are presented as attractively as possible.
Inventory Management: Assisting with inventory control by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and finished products, restocking shelves, and rotating inventory to maintain freshness. They may also assist with receiving deliveries and conduct regular inventory counts and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the bakery area, including cleaning display cases, countertops, and equipment. This also includes proper food handling and storage practices as well.
Customer Service: Greeting customers, assisting them with their inquiries, and providing product recommendations. They should be knowledgeable about the bakery's offerings and able to answer questions about ingredients, pricing, and special orders.
Assisting Associates and Pastry Chef: Provides support with various tasks, such as preparing ingredients, assembling pastry components, and guiding others especially in the absence of the pastry chef. This requires good communication and teamwork skills to ensure that production runs smoothly.
Compliance and Safety: Adhering to food safety regulations and following proper sanitation practices to prevent contamination and ensure the safety of the food. They may also assist with maintaining compliance with health department regulations and bakery policies, as it pertains to other employees as well.
Teamwork: Maintain a positive and professional attitude while collaborating with other bakery staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service.
