The Assistant Manager will oversee the daily operation of Port City Cafe and Pub under the direction of the General Manager.
Description
The Assistant Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversight of daily operations
- Management of the Bar
- Assist General Manager with Staff scheduling
- Assist in setting policies and processes & make sure staff are following them
- Assist in recruitment and training
- Ensure regulations are followed
- Assist in evaluate costs and suggest changes when necessary
- Identify areas to improve in & provide solutions for issues identified
- Prepare daily deposits and appropriate change needed for the drawer
- Assist in administrative tasks such as scanning documents and recording purchases and invoices
- Assist in the management of social media and other promotions
- Assist in product ordering and ensuring inventory is stocked
- Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities - The above responsibilities may change at the discretion of the President, Vice President, and/or General Manager of the company. The Assistant Manager is expected to fulfill their responsibilities in a timely and professional manner. The Assistant Manager is expected not to be wasteful of company resources including supplies and/or wages. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the operation of the restaurant while clocked in and on duty.
While on the clock, the Assistant Manager is expected to be available to assist the General Manager and other staff. The Assistant Manager is expected to be clear minded, present, and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Assistant Manager is expected to set a good example to other employees, treat all with respect, be even tempered, and a dedicated leader.
The Assistant Manager is expected to provide the General Manager relief from their duties while they are not on premise, or when not on the clock.
Representation - The Assistant Manager is expected to represent the Company to the highest degree while on or off the clock. This includes not discussing Company information with anyone that is not affiliated with the Company including wages (personal, or staff), recipes, confidential company policies, and other pertinent information. The Assistant Manager is expected to promote the Company while obtaining dedication from new and existing customers.
Schedule - The Assistant Manager’s schedule will be set by the General Manager. The Assistant Manager is expected to be available 10am - 2pm, and 4pm - Close during operational days. The Assistant Manager is a full-time position and should not exceed 40 hours per week, except for valid reasons. This includes hours spent while assuming bartending or serving duties. The Assistant Manager is expected to value the company’s time and not remain on clock while doing tasks not related to the Company.
Time Off - Port City Cafe and Pub values an individual's personal time. While the Assistant Manager is welcomed to be a patron, they are encouraged to not be on the premises when not working.
Compensation, Wages, and Benefits - The Assistant Manager’s wages are set at the discretion of the Company’s President and Vice President. Compensation is based on responsibilities, performance, merit, and available funds. Benefits are listed in the Company handbook. The Assistant Manager is expected to adhere to the Company policies regarding meal discounts and PTO.
Bartending and Serving Duties - The Assistant Manager may assume the duties of a bartender or server. While assuming these roles, the Assistant Manager is expected to be clocked in under the correct role. While assuming these duties, the Assistant Manager is still expected to fulfill all duties and responsibilities written in this document. As required by Law and Company policy, the Assistant Manager must report all tips while assuming these duties.
