Position Summary:
The Safety Manager works to prevent workplace accidents, promote health and safety awareness, and educate Porter Pipe & Supply team members. The Safety Manager is responsible for making sure that all team members follow safety policies and regulations to maintain a safer work environment. The Safety Manager provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.

Essential Functions:
  • Promote company safety culture through coaching, development, influence, and training.
  • Evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific documentation and templates, including the Safety Plan, Emergency Response Plan, and Job Hazards Analysis.
  • Collaborate with warehouse management to establish and enforce safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper material handling, and equipment safety.
  • Maintain inventory of PPE applicable to all positions and make it readily available to new and current team members.
  • Conducts regular safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
  • Plans, implements and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Conduct safety training for existing and new team members.
  • Serve as primary contact for onsite injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
  • Enforce compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and local safety-related regulations.
  • Accountable for continually reinforcing safe behaviors and correcting “at risk” behaviors to prevent workplace accidents.
  • Maintain expert knowledge, and stay current, with ANSI/DOT/EPA/OSHA Regulations and Standards.
  • Maintain OSHA logs across all Porter Family Company locations.
  • Facilitate audits and inspections by third parties and regulatory agencies.
  • Adheres to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • Serves as an ambassador of our culture.
  • Complete other duties and internal projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Associate Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (Preferred).
  • Five or more years of experience in the same or similar industries.
  • OSHA 30/10 Certification is required.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, self-starter.
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication, meeting, and presentation skills.
  • Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Requires the ability to effectively build rapport with internal and external customers.
  • Requires a positive attitude and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
  • Requires advanced computer skills. Microsoft 365 knowledge is required.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to communicate in English regarding the essential functions of the position.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50 lbs.
  • Requires visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk long distances for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and elements, noise, and fumes.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use a stepping stool, ladder, or power equipment. Porter Pipe & Supply will make reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
