Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the HR teams while also coordinating front desk and general administrative support for PorterCorp. This position assists the HR Generalists in carrying out responsibilities in the areas of benefit administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy writing and implementation, recruitment/employment/retention, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for greeting visitors, answering PorterCorps main phone line, conducting safety trainings, distributing the mail, and other general administrative and clerical responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and direct visitors and clients
- Answer and transfer phone calls in a professional manner
- Manage and distribute mail
- Conduct new hire and visitor/contractor safety trainings
- Facilitate and coordinate various company events
- Maintain and update electronic company updates/announcements
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team
- Provide assistance in posting job advertisements, screening applications, arranging interviews, participating in selection process and obtaining temporary staff from agencies
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers and terminations
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale and training and development
- Maintains compliance with Federal and State regulations concerning employment
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
- Provide assistance in monitoring employee performance appraisals
- Managing sensitive and confidential matters
- Participates in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies
- Perform tasks and duties as it relates to occupational health and safety
- Supports employment related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors Degree preferred
- 1 year of recruiting experience
- Prior experience in HR related function or schooling
Travel
This position requires minimal to no travel
Computer Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
- Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems
