Job Description:
Removes and restores protective coating on aircraft and equipment surfaces and performs corrosion control tasks required to ensure durability and specified appearance. Removes old paint from aircraft surfaces using liquid paint remover, or by abrasive blasting operations. Inspects for and treats corrosion. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool so paint adheres to surface. Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted. Coats surfaces of aircraft or equipment with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using spray guns and other devices. Applies surface markings, paints insignia, letters and numerals on aircraft using stencils or decals. Uses personal protective equipment such as air-supplied respirators, rubber gloves and other devices. Follows Technical Manuals, Safety Procedures, OSHA and EPA guidelines to preclude personal injury or environmental damage.

Working Conditions: May be required to work in areas that are noisy, dusty, and dirty. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching and climbing. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Will be required to comply with safety requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, where applicable.




Job Requirements:


Experience:
Must have a minimum of three years.

Qualification: Completion of Military Technical Training or comparable Civilian Trade School is desired.

Certification: Must be certified to perform Plastic Media Blast (PMB) if task requires that process. Must be certified to perform specific tasks listed in PHRI Standard Operating Procedures Manual, if required to perform those tasks.
