Fabricator/Welder/Pipefitter
FT, Non-Exempt Position
(Delanco, NJ Location)
Our organization is seeking several skilled pipe-fitters/pipe-threaders/fabricators with a highly trained eye for quality to join our production department. In this position, you will help support our company’s vision of delivering products of the highest quality to our customers. Responsibilities
- Check measurements and dimensions of each piece that’s being worked on with rulers, measuring tapes, or squares.
- Mark spots to cut and use tools to manipulate material by cutting, hammering, bending or grinding.
- Pipe Fitting Skills: Proficient working knowledge to effectively maintain & install piping, tubing and hose type fluid & air transfer systems. Ability to design & properly execute piping system installs.
- Mechanical Fasteners: Working knowledge, skills, and abilities required to properly identify and & effectively maintain/install various types of threaded fasteners and retaining rings.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to identify ASTM and SAE fastener grade markings: thread standards, torque requirements, and washer requirements for the specific task at hand.
- Operate welding equipment (such as MIG/MAG, TIG, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxyacetylene cutting, among others) safely and efficiently to heat up materials to make them more flexible for manipulation into the correct specs.
- Identify and correct defects in welds, if they occur, using appropriate rework techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including materials used, equipment settings, and inspection results.
- Review blueprints, drawings, and other specification papers before starting work on a fabrication process and during the steps to ensure accurate completion.
- Maneuver fabrication machines, such as grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears and flame cutters to cut, bend, grind and adjust materials.
- Make templates for common work tasks when conducting repetitive motions for the fabrication process to ensure a set standard of work quality.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- HS diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years of experience in fabrication, capable of fabricating a designed system
- Ability to use a pipe threader, table grinder, and chops
- Pipe-fitting skills
- Proficient working knowledge of mechanical fasteners
- Ability to understand blueprints and work specifications
- Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Strongly Preferred:
- Welding certificate completion; certified ASME code ideal
- Understanding of construction tasks and industrial processes
- Excellent color vision and hand dexterity
