What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training Supervisor position at PPG Industries?
PPG Aerospace has a Training Supervisor opportunity available at our Huntsville, AL facility. In this role you will have direct supervisory responsibility for all activities of the local trainers as well as oversite of new hire onboarding. The oversite duties include requesting staffing hires, coordination with recruiting on interviewing and hiring process, onboarding of new employees and continued support of local ongoing training and development. The supervisor may also be assigned oversite of a production area as needed to support facility growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of all activities of local training team.
- Accomplishes training staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; mentor, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains P&M staff level by communicating with operations and coordinating staffing resource needs and participating in the selection and onboarding process.
- Develop improvements to the current onboarding and on the job training program to streamline the process to reduce the time from first contact to effective production levels.
- Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation and support within training team and with departments it supports.
- Completes training plan and onboarding plan by scheduling and assigning staffing; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; supervising progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the training program on a routine basis.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and advising employees of the safe use of equipment and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Supports fellow supervisors to help resolve employee performance issues that could be addressed through training and education by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training; reviewing professional publications; benchmarking standard methodologies in training and onboarding so as to be the leader in integration of new processes.
- When providing supervisory coverage to a production area, advise all activities of the P&M staff of the area. Provide direction, performance evaluation, coaching and accountability as needed to meet the performance levels expected for the area.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years minimum experience in supervision with demonstrated leadership of peers.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, manufacturing, or educational field preferred.
- Previous experience in Production Planning, and Planning and Coordinating sophisticated schedules.
- Skilled in Problem Solving, Coaching, Mentoring, Managing Change, and Resource Planning.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
