Role:

The Tribal Juvenile Intake Officer will conduct assessments of Tribal youth to determine if they need assistance under police protective custody (PPC), child in need of care (CINC), and disciplinary measures for Juvenile Offenders (JO). The Tribal Juvenile Intake Officer will work with juveniles who have committed a crime or have a drug substance abuse problem. This position also leads the overall grant efforts to make the grant process work effectively and efficiently. The Juvenile Intake Officer will be the Tribal Amber Alert Coordinator and ensure all personnel are trained on missing and endangered children and helping with the recovery of missing and endangered children.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's
insurance carrier.

Experience: 2 years of related experience

Education: HS Diploma/GED

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Tribal laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar with the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as phone systems, copies, scanners, printers, managing files and records, workplace terminology.
  • Knowledge of accounting software specific to PBP Nation.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing police report information to appropriate parties.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
