The Extension Associate, under general supervision, performs programmatic and outreach responsibilities for the 4H/Youth Development (4-H) unit in the Cooperative Extension Program (CEP). This position will directly support the Health Houston Initiative (HHI).
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
Responsibilities:
Executes and participates in county programs
Assists Extension Agent(s) in activities of youth and adult enrollment such as, but not limited to performing various clerical task and providing support in secretarial duties; responsible for organizing files.
Participates in trainings, demonstrations, and county meetings as required by supervisor.
Develops resources, such as publications, videos, internet articles, news releases, and other online resources.
Communicates and plans with other faculty/staff, researchers, and educators to identify and link research with outreach/education application to the project.
Helps train volunteers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree.
Two (2) years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with social media management, video productions, and develop marketing material.
Experience in one or more of the following programmatic areas: 4-H, Youth Programming, Agriculture, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Robotics and/or Coding
