SUMMARY
Directs manufacturing operations for TIMET - Henderson. Build and develop operations organization, processes, and procedures to support strategic direction. Establish operations initiatives for improvement in safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost, and employee relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for developing and driving actions for safety, quality, throughput, cost control, on-time delivery, and waste reduction.
Establish and drive manufacturing policies in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing techniques - material yields, WIP velocity, production resource scheduling, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measures.
Oversees the implementation of manufacturing schedules, manpower and facilities requirements, quality control, production, and production control standards.
Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy to meet the strategic objectives of TIMET.
Facilitate and provide leadership at weekly Production/Maintenance/Engineering Planning meetings and assure that any equipment outage plans, or basic scheduled maintenance, is done with full understanding of the cost impact, on-time delivery impact, and potential quality impact to the respective area.
Lead Operations Superintendents through daily/weekly process at weekly meetings relative to the execution of the Production Plan.
Responsible for prompt execution of production plan at all stages to ensure on time delivery of finished products to customers.
Directs and oversees the operations budget to ensure compliance with Plant Operational Metrics including (but not limited to the following) Daily Flex, Operational Fixed Costs, Outside Processing Cost and Material Cost to support the Plant Budget and/or the BOQ Forecast.
Attend daily production meetings (Forge, Sheet and Plate, Coil) as appropriate to maintain a solid understanding of issues.
Lead daily line walks and utilize them to drive the same points home that are being discussed in daily production meetings - the idea is to push the issues / problems / solutions / recoveries to the shop floor through the daily line walks.
When necessary to develop a recovery plan, lead/facilitate the effort and achieve full recovery as quickly as possible, this may include an overtime increase, schedule changes, and/or offloading to a subcontractor. The costs associated with any recovery must be discussed with GM and Plant Controller.
Place an equal focus on maintenance communication boards and metrics, which drive the maintenance department to improve their workforce efficiency.
Establish OEE on all product line constraints and bottlenecks, ensuring that the availability, performance, and quality paretos are used to drive continuous improvement.
Maintain production throughput necessary to be on the cumulative TOC lines at all times.
Builds, develops, and manages manufacturing leadership team capable of carrying out needed manufacturing strategies and improving employee relations.
Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
Drive Operations Superintendents and Supervisors to be on time at respective stages for each product.
Drive each production area to achieve their ESH targets, Productivity targets, and VC/ESH targets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field
Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Process Improvement, Production Execution (low WIP inventory/high velocity)
7-10 years plant management experience in the metals industry within a union environment
Occasional travel will be required
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to thrive in a team environment.
Strong shop-floor systems knowledge (i.e. SAP, PIS, etc.)
Microsoft Suite software experience.
Must be able to prioritize multiple requests/projects

Extensive knowledge and training in product manufacturing
Possess ability to provide leadership, communication, organizational, analytical & problem solving.
