Manufacturing & Engineering Technician

Description

The Manufacturing & Engineering Technician will drive production process improvement and lead engineering development & validation activities at Premier Marine. Production improvements include process development & documentation, tool and fixture development, line balancing, material flow delivery, part presentation, workstation layout, 5S, elimination of errors, problem solving, and automation implementation. Engineering development and validation includes concept generation, detailed design work, boat prototype build, test procedure development, test equipment installation, test execution and data acquisition. Significant collaboration with cross functional teams including engineering, materials, quality, and production, and training to resolve productivity, quality, and flow issues. 

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

• Drive manufacturing process improvement activities through analysis and benchmarking to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate bottle necks.
•  Design process improvement tools such as weld and assembly fixtures.
•  Implement autonomous manufacturing and other process improvement technologies.
• Create and maintain all laser and press brake fabrication programs for development and production. 
• Build and validate manufacturing methods in ERP system, including selection and order of operations, material for BOMs, and part run / set-up time.
•  Create and update standard work documentation for processes, including but not limited to, all relevant maintenance documents and practices. 
• Execute validation activities including: fabrication of parts, assembly of boats, setup and execution of tests, data collection and data analysis.
• Develop test processes and equipment needed for advanced forms of validation data collection, such as strain gauging, thermal and sound testing and automated load cycle testing.
• Design and build prototype harnesses and electrical test devices.
• Deploy root cause problem solving and corrective actions.
• Demonstrate professionalism with all Premier Marine employees and visitors.
• Provide situational leadership in support of Premier Marine culture and values.
• Communicate effectively through all department levels to provide a clear and consistent message in a changing environment.
• Support Tier Continuous Improvement Boards to help facility achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvement goals.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Data acquisition equipment experience.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2-year technical degree preferred
• 3 - 5 years manufacturing experience required
