Summary:Performs advanced fluoroscopic imaging procedures under the direct supervision of a Radiologist. Maintains the competency associated with the advance imaging/fluoro through education and the direction of the Radiologist. Able to identify adult vs pediatric cases and will discuss plan of action with the Radiologist for each procedure. Practices the proper radiation safety measures with each procedure. Responsibilities:*Deemed competent by the Radiologist using observation, a skill check list and return demonstration to perform a limited list of advanced fluoroscopic imaging procedures. Example: NG tube placements, UGIs, sophograms , BEs,defocographys, cystograms, etc. *Performs radiographic examinations including acquiring adequate history and reviewing this history with the Radiologist prior to performing the exam. *Performs other duties/tasks as assigned*Demonstrates proficiency in utilization of RIS/PACs and EPIC *Demonstrates positive approach for new hire orientation*Adheres to department/hospital dress and attendance policies*Follows proper chain of command*Self motivated to actively seek out work when time allows*Mentors new employees and students and provides one on one educational inservices/sessions*Compliance:-Completes all mandatory and modality specific education (radiation safety, age specific criteria, and others as assigned.)-Communicates with radiologist/managers/co workers all important information regarding a patient or safety situation. Effectively uses oral and written forms of communication.-Prior to exam, ensures right patient, right exam, correct side etc. Brings concerns about accuracy or appropriateness of orders to attention of lead/manager/radiologist.-Communicates with patients and families using AIDET and EPE to reduce anxiety and ensure patient and family comfort.-Checks patient chart against the order entry to ensure it matches.-Obtains registration/licensure renewal at least 2 weeks prior to expiration. Communicates with -Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. -Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis. -Required to maintain required stock of supplies for each radiography room.-Completes annual competencies created for specific modalities.-Does not begin procedure without signed MD script or received verbal order directly from ordering MD before doing exam (read back confirmation required for verbal orders).-Ensures all exam and contrast charges are entered accurately and timely and are appropriate to the script in hand.-Contacts MD office when script does not match the necessary protocol. -Asks for new script and prompt office to see if a new authorization number is required-Performs daily QA/QC/Room checks/temperature checks/crash cart checks/as assigned-Completed exams meet acceptable diagnostic standards (minimal suboptimals).-Accurately completes all pre/post procedure documentation. Submits cases and all necessary paperwork in timely fashion.-Acknowledges exams in RIS/PACs to allow radiologist review-Adjusts technical factors according to protocol, age, weight, condition, etc. to create acceptable diagnostic images-Effectively cleans all equipment that will be used in sterile work area or in areas where contact precautions were in effect
