The Prince George's County Government Department of Public Works & Transportation is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Facilities Maintenance & Operations Specialist position, grade G18, within its Office of Administrative Services Division.
About the Position:This entry level professional and administrative position will serve as the Departmental Facilities Maintenance & Operations Specialist and will be responsible for work order management, implementing, and overseeing maintenance projects to include small renovation projects, coordinating vendor/contracted services related to each facility’s operational needs, coordinating maintenance and management of the Department’s Administrative Fleet, and maintaining safeguards relative to facility security access; defining new maintenance project scopes, estimating, and compiling associated costs and timelines, and monitoring internal quality standards for operational programs. Work is performed in line with established policies, procedures and regulations, and under the general supervision of the Associate Director, Office of Administrative Services.
What You'll Do:
- Serves as the central entity for DPWT responsible for evaluating, recommending, and ensuring resolution for facilities maintenance needs across DPW&T’s various operating campuses.
- Works in conjunction with agency officials and personnel to assess departmental facilities maintenance needs and facilitate planning, support and resolution for those needs.
- Serves as the Lead Vehicle Accountability Coordinator (VAC) for the Administrative Fleet for DPW&T.
- Coordinates vendor/contracted services related to each facility’s operational needs and ensure maintenance and management of the Department’s Administrative Fleet and maintains safeguards relative to facility security access.
- Anchors the Vehicle Accountability Coordination Program by ensuring all policies and procedures related to administrative vehicle management and upkeep are up to date, filed and accessible to requisite personnel throughout the agency/department.
- Provides program support while facilitating actions and activities related to the assignment, maintenance, and compliance for this class of vehicles.
- Maintains the Security Access system and reports, liaising with the Protective Services Unit (PSU) and OAS-HRMD to align employee security access badges and rights, and time clock alignment.
- Defines new maintenance project scopes, estimating, and compiling associated costs and timelines, and monitoring internal quality standards for operational programs.
- Compiles reports relative to the locations, needs and specific details associated with any work order management (WOMs) requests on a regular and reoccurring basis.
- Maintains the agency’s security management system, and partners with Agency Safety and Risk Management to facilitate support for safety activities that require operational/facilities coordination.
- Participate as an Essential employee in the Department's Snow and Ice Control Program and other emergency or special activities as assigned.

What You'll Need:
- Graduation from college with major course work in Liberal Arts, one of the Social Sciences, or Public or Business Administration.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:- Two (2) years of professional level facilities management and operations experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Upon selection, the candidate must:
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
- Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
- Participate as an "Essential" employee in the department's snow and ice control program and other emergency or special activities as assigned.
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
