As a key role in that mission, we are seeking qualified candidates to serve as a Public Safety Analyst (Operations Business Analyst). Together with the other members of our analytical team, the Operations Business Analyst will help the agency harness our information, data, and intelligence via enhanced reporting processes, trend analysis, and crime briefings.About This Role: As the Public Safety Analyst (Operations Business Analyst) you would play a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency of our police department by analyzing data/intelligence, optimizing reporting processes, and providing actionable insights to both internal and external stakeholders, which helps inform decision- and policy-makers and increase the overall effectiveness and responsiveness of our data and analysis operations. In collaboration with the other members of the strategic analysis team, you would greatly expand our real-time analytical capabilities and our ability to enhance law enforcement operations and meet and exceed the modern demands and expectations of contemporary community policing.Some examples of the day-to-day responsibilities of the role include: Conducting safety analysis, creating analysis, creating analysis findings reports, and determining public safety service needsCollecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to law enforcement operations, crime trends, and resource utilizationCollaborating with Crime Analysts and other key stakeholders to analyze trendsDeveloping analytical and technical reports and presentationsIdentifying data patterns and providing information for decision-making purposes and presenting analysis and statistics in support of departmental needs and data-driven decision-makingProviding actionable intelligence to enhance crime prevention, detection, and resolution effortsWorking closely with various units within the police department, including patrol, investigations, and administration, to understand their operational needCollaborating with IT teams to implement and enhance technological solutions supporting law enforcement operations.Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. and 4 years related (Demonstrated experience analyzing and working with data, information, and intelligence systems and applications) experience. Preferences: Our ideal candidate will have: A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Criminology, Organizational Management, or a related fieldExperience working in a law enforcement or public safety environmentExpertise in data analytics and/or organizational management analytics and a passion to apply those talents to inform and improve police operations and performanceProficiency in creatively determining which analytic and evaluative techniques that are most appropriate for a given problem, issue, or situationProficiency and creativity in extracting, synthesizing, visualizing, analyzing, and communicating insights from complex datasets and organizational processesStrong communication skills, in both written and verbal formats, and including under time pressure. The ability to communicate complex analysis to non-technical stakeholdersStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse range of agency, government, and university partnerships Special Requirements: All employees considered for hire by the Police Department are subject to a Polygraph Examination and a thorough Background Investigation. Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with potential consideration for occasional remote work based on operational demands. May also be subject to rotating on-call schedule.
