Position Title: Human Resource Generalist Department: Human Resource Reports To: VP of People & Culture Location: Little Rock, AR Purpose and Goals Priority-1, Inc. is a domestic freight services company that specializes in offering full service, nationwide logistics services to its customers. Priority-1 focuses on Less Than Truckload (LTL), Truckload (TL) and Expedited services. The Human Resource Generalist position is part of the Human Resources (HR) Department. The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual. Human Resource Generalist will maintain the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department supporting an assigned team. Essential Functions: Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual. Liaison for HR building and maintaining partnerships with leaders at all levels. Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to all levels of management for their direct reports related to coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required. Manages and resolves complex employee relation issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations as directed. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary. Conducts new-employee orientations and onboarding. Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Identifies training needs for business units and provides and facilitates such training. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment Files EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent in related work experience 3-4 years of progressive HR experience, preferably 1-2 years as an HR Generalist Advanced PC skills with proficiency in MS Office including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred experience with Workday strongly preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations PHR and or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
